Permit parking charge appeal

Appeal permit parking charges with photos of the permit, bay markings, registration match and validity dates — ask the operator to check permit whitelist logs against ANPR.

Challenging private parking charges when you held a valid permit, tenant bay or staff pass.

You parked with a resident permit, staff pass or retailer allocation — and ANPR still issued a charge. These appeals fail when permits are expired or plates do not match whitelist entries. They succeed when you prove validity and that the registration was linked correctly on the visit date.

Permit evidence checklist

  1. Photo of the permit on the dashboard or windscreen
  2. Permit validity dates and the registration listed
  3. Bay marking photos showing a permit-only bay
  4. Landlord or employer letter confirming entitlement
  5. Request for operator whitelist logs for your visit date

Common permit failures

  • Permit expired by one day but otherwise valid for the site
  • Household permit on the wrong car without transfer authority
  • Digital permit active in app but not linked to the ANPR plate
  • Parked in a permit bay but signs at your entrance did not explain the rules

How to write the appeal

State permit number, validity dates, registration listed on permit, bay used and that the permit was displayed as required. Ask the operator to check whitelist or permit logs for your visit. If the permit was digital, include app screenshots showing active status.

The permit was for another car in the household — can I appeal?

Only if the permit explicitly covers multiple vehicles or you can prove transfer with authority. Otherwise this is usually weak.

I only have a digital permit — can I still appeal?

Yes. Screenshot the app status and the linked registration, then ask the operator to audit digital permit logs.

I parked in the wrong bay — does permit still help?

Only if signs made the permit rules clear and your permit covered that bay category.
